Seminars and training
Seminars
Gian Wild offers four types of one hour seminars:
- Accessibility basics
- PDFs and accessibility
- Updates to the DDA: Web Advisory Notes
- Introducing the Web Accessibility National Transition Strategy
The Accessibility Basics seminar addresses the issues of: accessibility compliance; why accessibility is important, and how to maintain and test for compliance. It also provides information on Australia’s accessibility requirements and the current status of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, Version 2.0. To facilitate understanding and increase compliance, the W3C accessibility ratings are discussed, as well as how to determine what level the site should aim (for example, depending on your audience).
The PDFs and accessibility seminar addresses the current and future requirements for compliance with WCAG2 and the differences between WCAG1 and WCAG2 and how to prepare staff for the new guidelines. With the advent of WCAG2, it becomes the decision of policy-makers such as AGIMO and the Australian Human Rights Commission (formerly HREOC) as to whether PDFs are deemed an ‘accessibility supported’ and whether they can be on a site without an accessible alternative.
The Updates to the DDA: Web Advisory Notes seminar discusses the major changes between the current version of the Web Advisory Notes (endorsing WCAG2) and the previous version. Many things have changed and their impact on Government and/or non-Government departments will be discussed. For an overview of the major changes to the Web Advisory Notes see: Australian Human Rights Commission updates their Web Advisory Notes.
The Introducing the Web Accessibility National Transition Strategy seminar discusses the recently released transition strategy by the Australian Government Information Management Office. A specific timeline has been recommended in the transition strategy and this seminar talks about what is required and when. For an overview of this strategy see: AGIMO releases the Web Accessibility National Transition Strategy.
